How to Apply to Master’s and Doctoral Programs in the Department of Nutrition


When to apply

Students may enroll any semester, but anyone wishing to be considered for an assistantship must meet the February 1 deadline to be eligible for consideration for the following academic year. Awards of financial assistance will be announced in late April. Late applications will be considered in case of vacancies. Teaching and Research Assistantships offer a monthly stipend and remission of tuition.

How to apply to Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Department of Nutrition

Complete an application to the Department of Nutrition, which includes
1. An departmental application form.
2. Graduate rating forms .from three professional references, preferably with letters of reference on institutional letterhead paper. Letters and rating forms should be enclosed in sealed envelopes signed across the seal by the letter writerand sent with the departmental application.
3. A copy of official transcripts.
4. GRE scores
5. Write a statement of long- and short-term goals.

How to apply for dual MS - MPH program

  • Complete the Department of Nutrition application and all forms
  • Complete the Graduate School application
  • Complete the MPH program application

    An additional application for the MPH program is required for the students interested in the Dual MS - MPH degree.

How to apply to the Graduate School at the University of Tennessee

All applicants must also complete an online application to the Graduate School at the University of Tennessee. Application to the Graduate School requires original transcripts, TOEFL scores for international applicants and an application fee.

How to apply for financial aid

Assistantship awards are made through the Department of Nutrition. Additional financial aid is available through the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences. Submit this form to apply to the College for Financial Aid.
