Department of Nutrition

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville

Prerequisites for Admission to the Graduate Program

Prerequisite Courses

Nutrition prerequisites are determined on an individual basis at the time of admissions to the graduate program.  In general, however, student applicants are expected to meet the competencies associated with the following courses prior to or during graduate study in Nutrition:  chemistry, (general, organic and physiological/biochemistry), physiology, statistics, and introductory nutrition.

The GRE score is also required. While the GRE is not the only requirement we review by, an average cumulative score under the old format would be about 1200 while the new format average cumulative score might be around 300-400.  We also like to see a GPA of about 3.0.
